“Atento is the first company in Peruvian Call Centers industry to get the 27001 Certification”

In a Peruvian industry strongly influenced by the recent Data Protection Law, José Antonio Iyo, Atento´s Country Manager, tells us all about the 27001 Certification, which points specifically at information control and security.

“This norm seeks to certificate companies in an integral information security system. It´s very demanding, it has a world-class standard level, and we are the first Call Center in to get it” detailed Iyo, and then extended: “The main objective is to ensure that the model implants and certifies, allows clients the tranquility to know that they´re data is being protected”.

The interviewed also recognized that the establishment of the Data Protection Law has been a great impulse to the company in the pursuit of excellence: “Because of the Law, we wanted to continue evolving as a Contact Center, we wanted to keep looking for world-class standards, and going beyond what a Contact Center usually offers. We found this norm, we saw that it was highly valued, and we decided to start this challenge”.

Iyo also explained that the first area certified was Government, but the process required transversal improvements, reinforcing Atento´s leadership in the market. According to the executive of the Peruvian company, this also collaborates with the message they´re trying to send to the industry, related with the value offer and the professionalism with which the client´s information is managed.

“We´re also going to certify every client on the Financial area. We should have this process finished by June/July, because the big effort has already been made. There´s only some details left” ended Iyo, with optimism.

Thanks to its new information security world-class standards, Atento positions itself as leader in receiving offshore traffic in Latin America. This way, the big CRM and BPO company keeps gaining ground in Peru.
